We had a story time that doubled as a get to know each other time. So our resident storyteller, Lipi, gave us a very good story that goes like............................
There once was a sheep, a dog and a goat on their way to the city center. They took a Kenya bus and were comfortably seated. The dog paid his fair but forgot to pick his change when alighting. He only remembered after the bus had gone some distance. The goat got off before he could pay his fair, while the sheep paid his fair, got his right change and alighted.
That is why the dogs run after vehicles to get their change; Goats run away from vehicles as they fear they may be accosted for absconding from paying; while sheep don't particularly car about vehicles as they know that their conscience is clear. They did the right thing.
We are all leaders in society, one way or the other. We have social as well as moral responsibilities to both our countries and our societies. Take the analogy that the vehicle is history, which animal will you be?
The dog that did not do what was suppossed to be done at the right time and is theirfore always after a chance to do it? or the goat that feels embarrased to face history because he knew what the right thing to do was but did not do it? How about the sheep that did the right thing at the right time and theirfore has no fear being scrutinised?
